EXCITING NEWS
The City of Quincy was just recently awarded the Community Development Block Grant for $900,000 and combined with the generous amount of $1,000,000.00 that the City of Quincy has set aside for the project of a new library, we now have enough money to build the New Library in Quincy! The city has purchased the land on the corner of Central Avenue and C St SE, and we are currently working with the architect firm MJ Neal & Associates to finalize the design. We plan on putting the building project out to bid in June and start construction in July.

But unfortunately this won't cover all the expenses of the project. Some of the items that are not included in the initial construction costs are: skylights and sunroom, children's fun feature, oak trim, landscaping, modular carpet, entry pond and columnar basalt, signs, shelving, furniture, and multi-media equipment.

We are needing help from the community to continue with this project. If you are interested or have questions please contact Schiree Ybarra (509-787-2359) at the Quincy Library for more information.

NEW QUINCY LIBRARY!

Quincy's library has served the city for over 50 years! The library no longer has the space to serve our growing population, nor the facilities to apply the many technological advances of the last half century. Our new library, designed by Brad Brisbine from the Wenatchee firm of MJ Neal Associates (see pictures above), will nearly triple the size and offerings of our current library.

Since it's formation in 2008, the Quincy Valley Library Foundation has been seeking funds to build a new public library for the people of Quincy. To date, the city has contributed $1 million to the project and has purchased the site for our new library, on the corner of Central Avenue S and "C" Street SE. The Foundation will be applying for grants to meet its goal, but community support, private as well as public, will be required to raise the needed monies. Contributions can be made to Quincy Valley Library Foundation, P.O. Box 1666, Quincy, WA 98848.  All contributions are tax deductable. Questions? Call (509 787-2359.
